MUSCAT: The Ministry of Labour recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 'OneSupply Oman', a subsidiary of OQ’s Energy Oman company, to provide training for 160 Omani job-seekers under the 'Isnad' programme. The company also signed an agreement with the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) to develop and implement the training programme.

The programme is being conducted in pursuance of national efforts to enhance sustainable employment opportunities and empower national talents. It offers an example of public-private sector cooperation in shaping a qualified national workforce that meets labour market needs, besides boosting the readiness of Omani youth to join the supply chain and logistics sector — which is a vital arm in supporting economic diversification in Oman.

The MoU was signed by Khalid bin Salim al Ghammari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour, and Mazin bin Rashid al Lamki, CEO of Energy Oman. The agreement was signed by Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Science and Technology.

The training programme focuses on assessing the needs of the sector, identifying available employment opportunities and defining the required technical skills.

This initiative reflects the commitment of Energy Oman to support national development and consolidate In-Country Value (ICV) by optimising the potential of Omani human resources and providing them with the skills and experience needed to establish a more competitive and sustainable economy. - ONA
